Ion 3.0 or later
When creating a profile in Ion v3, default User Agent (UA) string values are assigned based on the selected Rendering Mode.
Many legacy web applications were designed to operate on a specific browser and operating system platform. Profiles in Ion v3 are designed to provide the older settings (where possible) to ensure legacy web applications work without requiring the customer to configure every product setting.
One of the most common pre-configured settings in every Ion v3 profile is the UA string value. The pre-populated values are selected to match the ‘lowest supported OS platform’ for the selected Rendering Mode. The settings are defined as follows:
Rendering Mode | UA String (Platform) | UA String (Version) | Least supported OS platform |
Default | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Adaptive IE Quirks | Windows NT 5.0 | MSIE 6.0 | Windows 2000 |
Emulate IE7 | Windows NT 5.1 | MSIE 7.0 | Windows XP |
Emulate IE8 | Windows NT 5.1 | MSIE 8.0 | Windows XP |
Emulate IE9 | Windows NT 6.1 | MSIE 9.0 | Windows 7 |
Emulate IE10 | Windows NT 6.1 | MSIE 10.0 | Windows 7 |
IE Quirks Mode | Windows NT 5.0 | MSIE 5.5 | Windows 2000 |
IE Edge Mode | N/A | N/A | N/A |
IE7 Standards Mode | Windows NT 5.1 | MSIE 7.0 | Windows XP |
IE8 Standards Mode | Windows NT 5.1 | MSIE 8.0 | Windows XP |
IE9 Standards Mode | Windows NT 6.1 | MSIE 9.0 | Windows 7 |
IE10 Standards Mode | Windows NT 6.1 | MSIE 10.0 | Windows 7 |
Note: UA String values are intentionally left blank when the Default or IE Edge Rendering Modes are selected.
