Browsium Ion 3.2 now available – supports Windows 8

The customer response to Browsium Ion 3 continues to be amazing. We’re thrilled to be helping so many enterprises with their Windows migration and Java management projects. As we communicated in December, we made significant investments to make Ion 3 great, and those investments are paying off. Customers continue to find Ion 3 more compatible, more robust, and much easier to configure.

But there was one key feature missing from Ion 3 when we first released it, and that was support for Windows 8. We’re excited to deliver a new release today, Ion 3.2. It includes support for Windows 8 (technically 8.1, but 8 is okay too) and many more improvements. Read on for details about what’s new in Ion 3.2, and how to get it.

What’s New in Ion 3.2

Ion 3.2 has some visible changes, and some great improvements in the plumbing. Here is a brief list:

• Support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 with IE11, along with IE11 on Windows 7
• Added support for Custom Files, Custom registries, as well as Java management for Windows Server 2003
• Ion Controller and Ion Monitor processes only run when a valid Ion configuration is present
• IE cache is cleared only when Ion configuration changes, not every time Controller starts
• Ion Client and Ion Configuration Manager setup now look crisp on high-DPI displays

Install Ion 3.2 Today

Who should upgrade to Ion 3.2? Frankly, everyone deploying or evaluating Ion.  If you’re already an Ion customer, you can download the new version from the download page sent to you with your license key. If you’re just evaluating Ion now, or are interested in evaluating it, you have two options:

• If you have engaged with us in the past, we simply need you to confirm your email address. Then we’ll automatically direct you to the download page.
• If we didn’t find your email address, or you’re new to Browsium, you can fill out our Evaluation Kit Request Form. You’ll have the software as soon as you verify your email address.
