How do I determine the version of Ion installed on my system?

Applies To

All Ion versions.

Summary

Use the following steps to determine what version of Ion components you have installed on your system.

Resolution

There are two Ion components that you should check separately: the Browsium Ion Client and the Browsium Ion Configuration Manager. Please review the Administrator Guide for more information about each of these components.

Ion Client

To make sure that you have the correct version of the Ion Client, there are two places you can check. The first will give you the installed Client Package version. The second will give you the Internet Explorer Add-On version. Make sure that the major version number you see in these two locations is the same.

The Client Package version:

  1. Navigate to Start -> Control Panel
  2. Select Programs, then Programs and Features
  3. Scroll down until you find the “Browsium Ion” components. Your client version is the package titled “Browsium Ion Client Add-on.” In this case, we are running Ion version 2.0 (the exact version number, date and size may vary depending on when you installed Ion on your system)

IonUninstall

The Browsium Ion Client Add-On for Internet Explorer version:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer
  2. Navigate to Tools -> Manage Add-ons
  3. Look for the addon called “Browsium Ion Client Add-on,” published by “Browsium, Inc.” It should look something like this (note your version # and file date my differ slightly):ionversion
  4. The first two parts of the version number should match the installed Client Package version number (“2.0”). The last part of the Internet Explorer Add-On version number is the build number.

Ion Configuration Manager

The Ion Configuration Manager should only be installed on systems used by the administrator.

  1. Navigate to Start -> Control Panel
  2. Select Programs, then Programs and Features
  3. Scroll down until you find the Browsium Ion components. It should look like this:

IonUninstall

Refer to the version number for “Browsium Ion Configuration Manager”
