How can I uninstall previous versions of Ion?

Applies to

Ion 2.x or Ion 3.0

Summary

You may need to uninstall Ion from a system before installing a new version, because the Administration Tools no longer needed on a given system or because you no longer need to access an application that requires legacy IE compatibility.

Resolution

Follow these steps to ensure that all Ion components have been removed.

Client Package

1. Close all running instances of Internet Explorer

2. Navigate to Start -> Control Panel

3. Select Programs, then Programs and Features

4. Scroll down until you find the Ion components. It should look like this (install dates, version numbers and file sizes may vary):

IonUninstall

5. Select “Browsium Ion Client Add-on”

6. Click “Uninstall” from the menu

7. Follow the prompts to complete the uninstall process

During the uninstall process for Ion, you may be prompted that “Setup was unable to close all requested applications.” Our installer will attempt to automatically close any Ion add-ons and applications, though it may still be necessary for you to manually close Ion.

The system will notify you if a reboot is required to complete the uninstall process.

Administration Tools

Navigate to Start -> Control Panel

1. Select Programs, then Programs and Features

2. Scroll down until you find the Ion components. It should look like this:

IonUninstall

3. Select “Browsium Ion Configuration Manager”

4. Click “Uninstall” from the menu

5. Follow the prompts to complete the uninstall process

The system will notify you if a reboot is required to complete the uninstall process.
