Legacy App Security

RUNNING LEGACY APPLICATIONS IN THE ENTERPRISE IS PRACTICALLY UNAVOIDABLE – MAKING THEM COMPATIBLE AND SECURE ON THE OTHER HAND…

In a perfect world, all the IT holes would fit a corresponding peg that is completely up to date with the latest and greatest in IT innovations. As they say, anything is possible, but not everything is probable. The reality is, replacing legacy applications is a major challenge that often leaves IT with the “Make Browser-Based Applications Fit the Hole and be Secure” mandate. No, it’s not “Hammer Time”; it’s time to develop a more secure Browser Strategy for legacy app security.Proton is the only tool available that allows Enterprise IT to inventory every web application and add-on by version, browser, and frequency of use in the entire Enterprise IT estate.

Ion is the industry leader for the continued, secured use of practically any mission critical legacy application, including those that have been completely deprecated (Flash, as an example) with no end-user retraining.

Catalyst is a seamless browser redirection tool to optimize application efficiency – Catalyst Policy with features around enterprise policy management will be released later this year.

In short, Enterprise IT has invested heavily, over many decades, in mission critical legacy applications. Replacing them is a daunting task, but it is possible to “Make Them Fit” securely and affordably.

Locking down unsupported applications to a specific version on trusted URL’s is the only way to avoid security vulnerabilities.

MS SAYS ADIOS FLASH W/ MANDATORY UPDATE

Come this July, Microsoft will be eliminating all things Adobe Flash from Windows including the Allow List/mms.cfg workaround.Windows 10 update will follow Chrome and Edge by deleting Adobe Flash from your PC | Express.co.uk

So what options are there?

Rewriting legacy apps and/or retraining is expensive and time consuming. Virtualized solutions are clumsy and priced per Flash instance on an annual basis.

Simply put, choosing Ion is a less expensive elegant solution that can be PoC’d and deployed in as little as one week.

If you are already an Ion customer, you likely know where this is going. Like our Java version remediation, it is possible to sandbox Flash to the trusted URLs of your choosing – centrally – and invisibly to the end user.

Not to mention that Ion is the most powerful IE compatibility software in existence:

A few examples:

– Permanent, sandboxed Flash remediation

– Silverlight EOL extension

– String replacement

– Migration compatibilities

– Acquisition legacy app compatibility

– Inject or replace HTML, JavaScript or CSS from client in real time – no server-side code changes

– Compliance rule setting

– Create custom registry, security, and feature control settings per application or even per web page

– Global settings can be customized beyond on and off to be invoked where needed (TLS, as an example)

– Browser security

Edition 3, Volume 1

ARE YOU PREPARED?Our Flash solution can be PoC’d and deployed in as little as one week.
