Browsium Client system requirements and impact

Summary

This article highlights both the system requirements and average CPU, memory and disk impacts on a modern business-class desktop workstation. We’re providing this data based off of a system consisting of a quad-core desktop with 8 gigabytes of RAM and an HDD and a clean installation of either Windows 7 or Windows 10.

System Requirements

The Browsium Client has the following requirements:

  • Windows 7/Server 2008 or later
  • Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 or 11
  • Microsoft Edge or later (must be domain joined)
  • Google Chrome 39 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 48 or later
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • 1GHz or faster 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • 1 GB RAM, 2 GB RAM for multi-user environments.

The BCMS has the following requirements:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 or later
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • Microsoft IIS 7 or later
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Web Edition or higher
  • 1GHz or faster 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • 2 GB RAM

System Impact

The Browsium Client has the following memory footprint on a test system highlighted in the above summary. The average CPU usage is between 0.05%-1% for Proton overall, Catalyst during a navigation. Ion CPU usage depends upon remediation in place within the configuration file but typically average around 1% per remediation or profile.
