Deploying Ion using a Windows system image generalized with sysprep

Applies To

Ion, all versions.

Summary

When you generalize an image via sysprep, the certificates placed during the Browsium Ion installation are removed. You will need to replace these once the image has been deployed to machines. To facilitate the replacement of the required certificates use BrowsiumIonCertificateSetup tool, run as part of a post-imaging deployment script. Without completing this step, Ion will be unable to work as intended on sites where HTTPS is used and it will appear as if Ion is not present despite opening a new window for the site in question.

Details

You will need to run the following tool, located in the Client folder (4.0 or greater) or the Ion folder (3.7 or below). This example assumes the default installation path on a 64-bit system. You will then need to restart the Controller or reboot the system for the settings to take effect.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsium\Client\BrowsiumIonCertificateSetup.exe rmroot
C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsium\Client\BrowsiumIonCertificateSetup.exe addroot

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsium\Ion\BrowsiumIonCertificateSetup.exe rmroot
C:\Program Files (x86)\Browsium\Ion\BrowsiumIonCertificateSetup.exe addroot
